Dear Sport Friends,

The   All-Russian   Kayak-Canoe   Federation is pleased   to invite   you   to take part   at the

European Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint Championships

which will be held in Moscow at Regatta Course in Krylatskoye Sport Centre. This Centre was built in 1973. The European Rowing Championships was the first International competitions which were held in it. At that time it was the best artificial rowing and canoeing course all over the world with the best natural conditions for the rowing and canoe sprint competitions (no current, and the influence of the wind is identical for the competitors during the race). Many large international regattas have been held in this course on time of existence of the USSR, the most famous of them are the XXII Olympic Games in 1980 and the annual event Memorial of the Olympic Champion Yulia Ryabchinskaya carried out during 17 years (1974-1991). Last year athletes from 51 countries from all continents competed on this venue for the medals of ICF Junior Canoe Sprint World Championships.

Many well-known and titled athletes in canoeing competed on its water-lines, such as: the 4-fold Olympic Champions Ivan Patzaichin Ivan (ROU), Ian Ferguson (NZL), 3-fold Olympic Champions Rudiger Helm (GER), Vladimir Morozov, Sergei Chukhrai (UKR), Vladimir Parfenovich (BLR), Knut Holman (NOR), Antonio Rossi (ITA), the well-known kayak-women – the 3-fold Olympic Champion Agneta Andersson (SWE), 2-fold Olympic Champion Rita Koban (HUN), and certainly – the most titled in canoeing - the 8-fold Olympic Champion Birgit Fisher (GER) which won her first gold Olympic Medal exactly on Moscow Olympic Canal in Krylatskoye.

We hope that the coming Junior and U23 European Championships will gather the strongest young boys and girls – the reserve of National teams for participation in Olympic Games 2012 and 2016.

Welcome to Moscow!
